For those of us that practice in the area, it is well known that noncompete clauses are ever more pervasive. Many states neither deem them illegal nor allow them free reign, preferring to hem their impact through restricting enforcement. The question that arises is whether states will honor choice of law provisions in contracts or insist that the state in which the work is done should govern which state's noncompete law applies.
